Hey all, well im the new kid on the block typing my first post. Reporting the trade that sent Mike Ribeiro and a 6th round pick to Dallas for a Janne Niinimaa and a 5th round pick. Even if this response is comming from a Leaf fan, I'd still think most habs fans would have to agree, Dallas blew them out of the water on this trade. Rebiero comming off a 51 Point season with a +/- of -6 was great chemistry with winger Mike Ryder. Janne Niinamaa, came off a season with about 16 points and a -14. You call that a defensemen?... I very much doubt that Janne Niinimaa will touch Ribeiro in succession this season. Even with the 1 round draft pick difference, it don't cut it. I seriously don't know what Bob Gainey was thinking on this one, if he was looking for defense i don't really think Dallas would of had much...

Yeh Ribeiro was a good player and Niinimaa has horrible stats over the years he may be 5th defenceman calibre and in that case its not worth Ribeiro
Get your head out of your ass Ribeiro was an embarrassment to the Montreal Canadiens and I'm glad he is gone.
just because he was an "embarrassment" doesn't mean you trade him for a bad Defenceman that is older and doesn't have much potential to improve anymore

well for real habs fans, we are very glad hes gone..hes a cancer on the team. and useselles with kova and sammy...hence, we can easily replace him witht the load of prospects we have...even if we get robbed...which i doubt...we will climb the hill, just as we did when we got rid of theo...whatta joke
ya sorry dude, no true habs fan was all that sad to see mickey ribs shipped out of town. he is a floater, and a cancer in the locker room, dallas can have. the fact that gainey was able to get a warm body rather than say a sack of pucks, is all gravy.
You should keep posting for your Leafs since you know nothing about the Habs. "Ribeiro had good chemistry with Ryder..." Wow, Ryder was on the first line with Koivu and Higgins...So, Stop comment on things that you don't even know about.
Lol, as i am a leafs fan, i agree Riberio was an embarassment to Montreal, and im congradulating Montreal for getting anything for him, Niinimaa has some size, which Montreal needs, so not bad for the Montreal fans, they shouldnt be to disappointed, the draft pick is the best thing in the trade like it or not
Im just saying even though you hated Ribeiro, they still should have gottenmore then Janne Ninnima
most of us would have been happy with a jock strap..maybe a bag of pucks...niimimaa is gravy.
